St. Simons Island Kitchen Transformation

If you want to see a stunning St. Simons Island kitchen transformation, look no further. Last month we were working in this kitchen in Hamilton Landing on St. Simons Island. It had not been updated since the 90’s so dramatic changes were planned. Out with the dated border, the rope molding, and the appliance garage, in with new countertops, sink, and splash, new fixtures and freshly painted walls, ceiling, and trim. Other contractors were in charge of those things, while we did the cabinets.

MDF fluff

The old doors were made of MDF, medium density fiberboard, which does not like water very much. How about that, a builder/contractor installing kitchen cabinets that can’t take a splash of water… It was actually quite common in the nineties; my guess is because of the price compared to wood cabinets. Well, fast forward 30 years and they don’t look so good. Make sure you scroll down to look at the before pictures. A lot of times when MDF doors are damaged we can actually bring them back to life with some very thorough prep work, 2-3 coats of primer and 2-3 coats of paint. This time, we were not able to salvage them. Instead, the homeowner opted for new doors. We ordered stylish, yet simple shaker style wood doors and drawer fronts.

Happy clients

We hear this a lot, after finishing up a project: “I just love to be in my kitchen now, whereas before I did not like it. Every time I walk in there, I feel so happy”. And with a major transformation like this, who wouldn’t be excited? Sometimes though, all it takes is paint and some elbow grease and it will feel like you have a new kitchen. Let us know if we can help make your kitchen dreams come true.
